Cabs for Veterans

What is Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday is a day to remember those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today. It is not a time of celebration which glorifies war but an emotional time of commemoration to remind us of the horrors of war. Cabs-for-Veterans operates from the following hub locations. No need to book, just turn up and look for the special marshals who will help you.

The service we provide
London taxis take veterans from all mainline terminal stations to and from Whitehall for Remembrance Sunday service. Provided by the drivers and helpers with their own time and money.
Operating from 0800 until 1000 for inward journeys with return journeys from approx 1200 until 1400 this is seen as one of the highlights of the taxi driver's year. All London taxis are wheelchair accessible, with large interiors taking up to 6 passengers. They can also access most of the bus lanes making the journey smooth for all those going to and from their Remembrance events. When others say "lest we forget" we simply say "we remember".
There is no need to book, simply turn up at one of our hub locations where the marshals will help you into one of the taxis.

Register for a pickup
The majority of pickups are from our hub locations - just turn up and go.
For wheelchair users and those with severe ambulatory problems we offer a limited pick up service. You should complete the details in the next screen. We will then contact you to make final arrangements for collection.
Please note: To allow us to allocate our resources correctly special pickups are allocated on a strict first come, first served basis. Registering early will help us with our allocations. Special pickup requests can only be arranged up to midnight on the Wednesday before Remembrance Sunday.

Register as a driver
Drivers are the very core of our service. London's famous 'black cab' drivers with their 'knowledge' are famed throughout the world. They are always willing to help any cause they consider deserving.
We need drivers to pick up from all areas on inward and outward journeys. You can either help inbound, outbound or both directions. Many drivers wait on Westminster Bridge when Big Ben striking the 11th hour can be a very emotional experience. The wait for returning veterans can then become an almost carnival event.
Want to join us?
Not able to make it both ways? You can still help. While inbound journeys operate from 0800 to 1000 there are known high demands between 0830 and 0915. Even one journey can help relieve the pressure on other drivers.
The return journeys starting from around 1230 also need extra help with a very high demand between 1300 and 1430.

Register as a helper
Helpers and marshals help make the Cabs-for-Veterans service go smoothly. From simply meeting the veterans as they make their way to the waiting Cabs-for-Veterans to a fuller meet and greet service at some of the larger pickup sites, helpers and drivers combine to make the travel service for our veterans something that can help ease the inevitable stress they feel on such an emotionally charged day. It's a very early start but we will arrange for you to be collected by taxi. The emotions you experience can only be felt by being there.
